Android Software Engineer
Location: Remote, Nationwide
Our client is building a new generation of mobile experiences where artificial intelligence is an essential part of the product rather than an added feature. They are seeking an Android Software Engineer who can combine strong Kotlin development skills with practical AI integration experience to create fast, intuitive, and dependable applications. Focus
- Develop and release native Android capabilities in Kotlin for a consumer facing mobile product.
- Connect mobile experiences to language, vision, and speech intelligence services through well structured application interfaces.
- Shape resilient AI interactions that remain understandable when responses stream slowly, arrive partially, or require another attempt.
- Use Coroutines and Flow to manage concurrent work, state changes, and responsive application behavior.
- Build reliable connectivity between Android applications and backend platforms using RESTful APIs, gRPC, and robust data communication practices.
- Investigate crashes, latency, memory pressure, and CPU usage with Android debugging and profiling tools.
- Build observability into the application through practical logging, analytics, and user feedback signals.
- Partner with product, backend, and machine learning teammates to translate evolving AI capabilities into intuitive mobile workflows.
- Strengthen release quality by addressing security, scalability, edge cases, and production reliability throughout development.
Skill Set
- 3 or more years of professional Android development with Kotlin, including applications released to production environments.
- Direct experience connecting Android products to AI capabilities such as large language models, computer vision, or speech services.
- Strong command of Android concurrency patterns using Coroutines and Flow.
- Experience consuming REST or gRPC interfaces and troubleshooting integration issues across mobile and backend systems.
- Demonstrated skill diagnosing application performance, stability, memory, and responsiveness problems.
- Ability to build dependable product experiences when external services introduce latency, incomplete results, or unpredictable behavior.
- Exposure to on device machine learning, ML Kit, or TensorFlow Lite is helpful.
- Experience shipping an Android application through Google Play is a plus.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and cross functional collaboration skills.
