About This Role
The Android Mobile Automation Tester designs, develops, and maintains scalable automated test suites for Android applications using Espresso and Kotlin. This role suits an experienced tester who collaborates closely with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality releases through various testing methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated UI test scripts for native Android applications using Espresso and Kotlin.
- Create and execute functional, regression, integration, smoke, and end-to-end test cases for Android mobile applications.
- Build reusable automation frameworks, utilities, and page-object/model-based test structures.
- Perform UI validation, navigation testing, data-driven testing, and cross-device/cross-Android-version testing.
- Validate application behavior across emulators and real Android devices.
- Collaborate with developers and product owners to understand requirements, identify test scenarios, and provide early quality feedback.
- Perform API-level validation using REST APIs, JSON/XML responses, and tools such as Postman or RestAssured.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
- Analyze test failures, debug issues using Android Studio logs, and raise clear, reproducible defects.
- Track defects, maintain test reports, and contribute to test coverage and quality metrics.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, test-plan reviews, and release readiness discussions.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and promote best practices in mobile automation.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3+ years in Android mobile automation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Espresso for Android UI automation.
- Strong programming skills in Kotlin.
