About This Role
This role is for a Senior Kotlin (Android) Developer with extensive experience in Android development. The position involves building and maintaining Android applications, integrating APIs, managing local data storage, and ensuring application security. It suits a developer with a strong background in Kotlin and Android SDK, looking to work on real-time communication and device-to-server connectivity.
Responsibilities
- Develop Android applications using Kotlin and Java
- Integrate REST APIs, JSON, HTTPS/TLS, and secure API communication
- Implement socket programming, TCP/IP, and WebSockets for real-time communication
- Manage local Android data storage using Room or equivalent technologies
- Develop offline-first applications with transaction synchronization and recovery mechanisms
- Ensure application security through data encryption, certificate management, and secure key exchange
- Work with hardware communication interfaces like USB, Serial, and Bluetooth
- Utilize development tools such as Git, CI/CD, and Docker for deployment and support
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and Android SDK
- Hands-on experience with Android Jetpack components (ViewModel, LiveData, Room, WorkManager, Navigation)
- Strong understanding of Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
- Experience with dependency injection using Hilt/Dagger
- Hands-on experience integrating REST APIs, JSON, HTTPS/TLS, authentication, and secure API communication
- Experience with socket programming, TCP/IP, and WebSockets
- Experience with local Android data storage using Room or equivalent technologies
- Experience with offline-first applications, transaction synchronization, retry mechanisms, and transaction recovery
- Understanding of data encryption, certificate management, secure key exchange, JWT, OAuth 2.0, and application security
- Familiarity with hardware communication interfaces, including USB, Serial, Bluetooth, and vendor-specific SDKs
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Docker, application deployment, debugging, logging, and production support
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of NFC, EMV card reading, ISO 14443, and contactless smart-card technologies
- Experience in Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), Metro/Rail and Public Transport, NCMC and EMV, QR ticketing, POS and payment processing, or Transit systems
