About This Role
This engineering role involves joining the BI team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining the company-wide data platform. The team works across the entire organisation to enable data-driven decision-making and automation at scale, bringing scalable, reliable, and efficient data models, BI interfaces, and self-service solutions to life.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business teams, analytics engineers, and data engineers to bring scalable, reliable, and efficient data models, BI interfaces, and self-service solutions to life
- Make data AI-ready and enable the adoption of AI-powered analytics
- Work closely with business teams, data analysts, and AI engineers to understand their needs and translate those into effective data solutions
- Utilize dbt, SQL, BigQuery, and Looker/LookML to transform and model both new and existing data sources
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and self-service tools that enable business stakeholders to gain insights and make data-driven decisions
- Drive AI-assisted workflows within the AE function, including agentic development and LLM context management for the dbt repository
- Build and maintain a robust semantic layer with clear metric definitions and documentation to enable reliable AI-powered analytics
- Optimize warehouse efficiency by managing BigQuery costs and implementing effective partitioning and incremental processing strategies
- Provide data modeling expertise to additional team and department members through code reviews and pairing to help deliver optimal and scalable designs and queries
- Promote the adoption of AI solutions and interfaces by educating business users and data developers on their usage
Requirements

- Experience writing dbt tests and unit tests, with a strong focus on data quality and validating results before delivery
- Experience with data models explicitly architected for self-serve and AI access: structured, documented, and reliable enough for business teams, conversational analytics tools, and AI features to consume autonomously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Passion for podcasts, audio content, and entertainment is a big plus
- 1-3 years of experience working in BI, data or analytics engineering, preferably in a fast-paced environment
- Strong experience with SQL, dbt, BigQuery, Git, and data visualisation tools (e.g. Looker)
