About This Role
This role focuses on developing and implementing quality control assays and workflows for single cell and spatial biology products, with a strong emphasis on analytical chemistry skills. The successful candidate will work closely with R&D and Manufacturing teams to ensure the highest quality standards for 10x products are met from concept through post-launch activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate on the development, validation, and implementation of novel and/or orthogonal quality control methods for molecular biology products across single cell and spatial biology technology platforms
- Design, document, and implement end-to-end QC strategies from raw materials to finished goods that are efficient and cost-effective
- Optimize and continuously improve existing QC strategies and methods
- Train QC team members domestically and internationally on complex analytical assays with reassessment and retraining for compliance as needed
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues related to product formulation, customer escalations, long-term storage, and quality control
- Design and conduct experiments to understand molecular interactions within complex systems, including cause and effect, root cause of failure modes, guard banding for manufacturing workflows, and optimization using Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies or other statistically driven approaches
- Document and update standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Present key findings to cross-functional teams and leadership
Requirements
- PhD or MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related fields
- 2+ years (PhD) or 5+ years (MS) of relevant biotechnology or analytical chemistry industrial experience
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and implementing QC strategies from raw materials to finished products
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with application of analytical chemistry and/or molecular biology techniques such as:
- Characterization and quantification of oligonucleotides via direct mass spectroscopy, LC/MS, and other advanced analytical methods
- Characterization and quantification of proteins and enzymes via mass spectroscopy, LC/MS, and kinetic/thermodynamic assays
- Characterization of antibodies via flow cytometry, gel electrophoresis, and other advanced analytical techniques
