About This Role

This role involves performing complex account reconciliations, financial analysis, and technical accounting research to ensure proper implementation of accounting standards. The Analyst prepares and distributes financial reports and cash flow models, supporting budgeting, debt, and rate requirements, and ensures compliance with the CPS Energy debt program. The position may involve working in departments such as Controller or Finance, focusing on operational and tactical aspects of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex account reconciliations and associated financial analysis
• Conduct technical accounting research to determine proper implementation of complex accounting standards
• Prepare various auditing schedules
• Prepare, analyze, and distribute financial reports and cash flow models to determine present and future budgeting, debt, and rate requirements
• Ensure all requirements for the CPS Energy debt program are met
• Prepare, analyze, and distribute various financial and statistical reports, including variance explanations utilizing cost tracing and root-cause analysis
• Prepare schedules and supporting documents for annual external audit
• Update department dashboards, including calculating ratios and graphing trends
• Work within financial objectives/budget set by management
• Monitor benchmarks and analyze variances to those benchmarks
• Perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data
• Evaluate and recommend policies and procedures that comply with accounting and financial regulatory bodies
• Perform technical research and write position papers to ensure documentation of implemented policies and procedures
• Prepare and update desktop procedures, including flow charting and similar processes, while assessing current processes and recommending process improvements
• Collaborate with management in managing financial efficiency
• Utilize the SAP system for research, analysis, and report writing
• Develop alternative solutions for decision-making which support organizational goals/objectives and budget constraints
• Create automated financial and project management reports and validate the output
• Communicate, both in writing and verbally, to all levels of CPS Energy and external parties on theory and concepts that impact the organization
• Support process improvement initiatives in the areas of cost and margin enhancement, risk mitigation, and operational effectiveness
• Perform analyses supporting the monthly financial forecast
• Assist with the development and tracking of gap closing measures as needed to meet organizational financial and operational targets
• Develop and conduct training classes when necessary
