About the role

Duties

The incumbent serves as the Technical Support Specialist in the Technical Support Center (TSC). Recognized for a high level of technical expertise on legacy and newly developed systems within a large facility or multiple facilities over a large geographical area. Work requires maintaining technical knowledge on complex systems and/or emerging technology, systems interrelationships and management of the National Airspace System (NAS). Performs a variety of functions directly relating to the operations of the NAS. Performs assignments with a high degree of independence from supervision.

The incumbent is a principal team leader for major projects and/or program areas. Coordinates the resolution of unique technical problems without managerial intervention, provides coordination and suggests technical solution. Ensures the work is carried out in accordance with overall plans and objectives of the organization, resolving problems as they arise and making adjustments as necessary to deal with unanticipated situations and organizational needs. Tracks progress and completion of TSC support assignments, SSC support requests, chronic or systemic NAS events, and TS lead projects.

Provide training, workforce development, guidance and advice to employees, contractors and other organizations as needed.

Can be called upon to assist with repairs and/or restore service or systems. As needed, coordinate with local TID resources and/or functional leads to establish support/telecons. Focuses on overall NAS systems performance and causes of system degradation. Collaborates with NPM to ensure TID support for projects and acceptance of new or modified systems, and provide assistance for resolving problems with installations or improvements.

Position requires emphasis on customer service and organizational skills. Responsibilities include risk management for system and infrastructure projects by identifying and mitigating potential hazards to the NAS. Be proficient with operations software tools such as Peabody, TECHNET, TOT, CWP, FSEP, JAI, SMIS, NAP, WIT, Security and Safety programs and can utilize software such as Excel, Power Point, and Word.

Qualifications

Candidates must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that is appropriate to the position. Experience that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level (FV-H, Level III), meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities identified below.
