About the role

Duties
Serves as the Technical Support Specialist in the Technical Support Operations Group, performing a variety of functions directly relating to the operation of the NAS. Provides technical support to the operations managers as required for efficiency and continuity of NAS operations. Focuses on the availability and reliability of the services and products provided to users of the NAS. The position is concerned with the applications of the systems through which those services are provided. Performs a variety of functions directly relating to the operations of the NAS. Listens to field concerns, develops and implements coordinated solutions, and ensures follow through with customer. Determines whether the majority of services, systems, or subsystems are operating (or are capable of operating) within applicable parameters and specifications. Determines the technical acceptability or status thereof. Decisions and recommendations involve major segments of the NAS which extend beyond District boundaries. Initiates action for the timely repair or restoration of services and systems, taking into account the availability of backup systems, possible reconfigurations to minimize service interruptions, and relative criticality of particular functions to the safe and efficient operations of services and systems throughout the area of geographic responsibility of the position. Travel is required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidate must show experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that demonstrates an exclusive of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level (Pay Band H/Level III or equivalent), meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES identified below.

  • SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: One year experience with one or more of the following system(s) and service: Remote Comm Air/Ground (RCAG), Back-up Emergency Comm (BUEC), Remote Comm Outlet (RCO}, Voice Recording Sys(VRS), Remote Transmitter/Receiver (RTR}, Terminal Voice Switch (TVS), Radio Comm Link (RCL), Fiber Optic Transmission System (FOTS), Telephone Equipment(TELCO), Next Generation Air-ground Communications (NEXCOM}, Radio Frequency Interference (RFI).
