Duties

Major Job Duties:

  • Perform inspection and troubleshooting on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components.
  • Positions, maintains, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components.
  • Accomplish operation and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.
  • Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Certifies work produced under the Technical Orders Program.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: At least one (1) year of specialized experience. Specialized experience must include performing such duties as installing, adjusting, aligning, inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gear boxes, pumps, and hydraulic pressurization, utility fuel, oil pneumatic flight control systems and provide training to the reservists.

1). Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic without more than normal supervision. (This is a screen-out element. Screen-out elements are the critical knowledge, skills, and abilities that are essential for satisfactory job performance.)

2). Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic, such as using precision measuring instruments).

3). Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading).

4). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment (such as torque wrench, speed wrench, ratchet wrench, etc.).

5). Troubleshooting (finding and eliminating problems with the aircraft).
