About the role

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Issue clearances to provide separation between aircraft and vehicles operating under the jurisdiction of the control tower.
  • Issue advisory information (e.g., clearances, control instructions) to accomplish separation between vehicles and aircraft.
  • Solve unexpected situations (e.g., rush of traffic, emergency of an aircraft, sudden severe weather change) by making immediate decisions according to protocol.
  • Operate air traffic control (ATC) communications equipment to facilitate communications with aircraft, adjacent air traffic control facilities, or intra-facility positions.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing air traffic control services to ensure safety of aircrafts, vehicles and personnel; 2) Monitoring and evaluating air traffic and terminal deficiencies to implement corrective action; and 3) Interpreting and applying ATC regulations and laws to ensure efficient work practices. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
