Duties
The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
- Issue clearances and traffic information to aircraft landing, departing, or operating within the airport traffic area.
- Evaluate the operational readiness of air traffic control (ATC) equipment to verify compliance with air traffic control safety regulations.
- Notify search and rescue (SAR) agencies of aircraft emergencies to assist aircrafts in distress.
- Issue advisory information (e.g., clearances, control instructions) to accomplish separation between vehicles and aircraft.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying laws, rules, regulations, and procedures for the use of airspace, navigation aids, radar operations, aviation weather, and factors affecting the safety of flight; 2) Issuing clearance and control instructions to airborne aircraft; 3) Guiding airfield ground operations; and 4) Dispatch fire and security personnel to resolve aircraft and airfield emergencies or security violations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
