About This Role
This specialist role focuses on developing and implementing frameworks and policies to ensure the responsible and ethical development and deployment of AI systems. You will work closely with legal, compliance, engineering, and product teams to navigate the complex ethical considerations surrounding AI, shaping the ethical landscape of AI within a pioneering organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement AI ethics principles, guidelines, and best practices
- Establish and manage AI governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI projects and products throughout their lifecycle
- Provide guidance and training to technical and business teams on AI ethics and responsible AI practices
- Monitor emerging ethical issues and regulatory changes related to AI
- Collaborate with legal, policy, and engineering teams to address ethical concerns and mitigate risks
- Develop communication strategies to articulate the company's commitment to responsible AI
- Advise on fairness, accountability, transparency, and safety in AI systems
- Contribute to the development of internal policies and procedures related to AI data usage and model development
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science, Public Policy, or a related field with a focus on technology ethics
- Demonstrated experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology governance, or policy development
- Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their societal implications
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and frameworks concerning AI and data privacy (e.g., GDPR, POPIA)
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and disciplines
- Strong ethical judgment and commitment to promoting responsible technology
