About the role
Job Purpose The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and oversight of quality systems and strategies to ensure products meet internal standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations. This role provides strategic direction for quality assurance and control activities, manages compliance with standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, and drives continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. The Quality Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, leads audits, and fosters a culture of quality excellence to support operational performance and customer satisfaction.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance across all manufacturing processes and support audits and certifications.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, track metrics such as defect rates, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
- Use statistical tools and root cause analysis to identify trends and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate structured problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, A3, Fishbone, FMEA) with cross-functional teams to address internal and external quality issues.
- Ensure timely resolution and communication of quality concerns to stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary contact for customer quality issues, including managing complaints, returns, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming material quality meets specifications and drive supplier development initiatives.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement through training, coaching, and engagement.
- Lead initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
Education And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience
- 10+ years of experience
Skills
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Responsible for ensuring system compliance, leading internal and external audits, and maintaining certification readiness.
- Demonstrated ability to lead structured problem-solving initiatives using tools such as 8D, FMEA, and 5 Whys.
- Must be able to analyze data, identify trends, and drive resolution of internal and external quality concerns.
