Job Summary/Basic Function: The ADN Faculty Member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both didactic and clinical learning environments. Instruction may occur in traditional on-campus classrooms, skills and simulation laboratories, community-based clinical settings, and/or online or hybrid formats. Thirty-five (35) hrs a week required on campus or clinical site, times vary depending on individual assignment.

  • Teaches assigned courses using established syllabi and curriculum guidelines.
  • Ensures comprehensive coverage of required content, learning outcomes, and competencies.
  • Develops and administers assessments (e.g., exams, assignments, skills evaluations) in alignment with course objectives and faculty handbook expectations.
  • Introduces, demonstrates, supervises, and evaluates students’ development of nursing skills and clinical competencies.
  • Supervises and mentors students in the delivery of patient care across varied clinical settings (e.g., acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, community agencies, and simulation environments).
  • Facilitates learning experiences that support the application of theoretical knowledge to direct patient care.
  • Evaluates student performance in clinical practice, including clinical reasoning, hands-on skills, professional behavior, and documentation.
  • Course management: Participates in course design, instruction, grading, and evaluation; comprehensive program design and evaluation.
  • Participate in department and college-based committee activities.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas;
  • Hold a master's degree or doctoral degree, preferably in nursing;
  • Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility;
  • A nurse faculty member holding a master's degree or doctoral degree in a discipline other than nursing shall hold a bachelor's degree in nursing from an approved or accredited baccalaureate program in nursing; and (i) if teaching in a diploma or associate degree nursing program, shall have at least six (6) graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities
  • Minimum of five recent years of clinical experience
  • Minimum of 3 recent years of teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience of supervising students in clinical experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver constructive feedback, referrals, remediation plans, formative and summative assessment
  • Expertise in constructing and measuring student learning outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability working with culturally diverse populations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Thrives in a challenging environment and embraces technology
  • Interest in alternative instructional delivery methods
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of nursing education theory and techniques
  • Safety procedures
  • Use of medical and office equipment
  • Quality control

Location: Position is 100% on-site presence
