Duties
- Composing and typing a variety of correspondence, reports, power point slides, meeting minutes and other administrative documents into draft or final form;
- Receiving and screening telephone calls and visitors to the office; Receiving and reviewing incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence for the office;
- Establishing and maintaining files and publications in accordance with Army Regulations; Performing Defense Travel System (DTS) functions;
- Operating a wide variety of system programs and/or software; Reviewing and processing all Military personnel actions.
Qualifications

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: providing administrative support assistance to include: assisting with various office operations and advising personnel on matters dealing with new or revised personnel regulations, standard operating procedures, and other clerical and administrative procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Knowledge of administrative processes and procedures
- Skill in the use of automated computer systems and software
- Ability to communicate orally
- Ability to communicate in writing
- Knowledge of Personnel Process and Procedures
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent). NOTE: To support the time in grade (TIG) requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50/NPA that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes [insert examples of specialized experience]. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
