About the role

Duties

The selectee will serve as an Administrative Staff Specialist in the Office of Technical Development and Mission Support, Technical Security Division. Typical work assignments include:

  • Coordinating and administering various human resources programs; assisting in managing administrative aspects of personnel actions, benefits, and the performance management system. Manages the establishment and maintenance of office files, records, Divisional reference materials.
  • Assisting in the procurement of office equipment, furniture and supplies and maintaining financial and property records; conducting periodic inventory; conducting and arranging for training of support staff; receiving, reviewing and processing training requests; receiving and paying invoices for administrative expenses applying appropriate local and federal acquisition procedures and regulatory requirements; and serving as a cashier for third party drafts.
  • Preparing official memoranda, reports, correspondence, and administrative forms; presenting findings and recommendations; and assisting with briefings concerning policy and procedures.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $54,972) if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing duties such as: providing office management services requiring substantial responsibility for coordinating work with other offices; screening visitors and telephone calls and answering procedural questions; receiving and processing invoices; arranging for equipment repair; maintaining time and attendance; and creating and maintaining files. OR

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR

A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your résumé and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $66,510) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties such as: analyzing and making recommendations for changes to established procedures used in clerical or administrative work processes; determining the appropriate organizational unit or staff to handle technical requests and inquiries and tracking completion of responses; maintaining office inventory and purchase supplies using an automated system; maintaining and updating Employee Personnel Files; and processing or initiating personnel actions in an automated system. OR

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR

A combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. This will be calculated using your résumé and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service.
