The incumbent of this position will serve as an Administrative Officer of the Medical Service and is under the direct supervision of the Business Manager of Medical Service. VAPAHCS consists of three major divisions, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore with community-based outpatient clinics located in San Jose, Monterey, Capitola, Fremont, Stockton, Modesto, and Sonora.
The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Directs overall administrative activities to include Human Resource management, strategic planning, and program management and evaluation.
- Interprets and ensures staff adherence to national policy guidelines and local standard operating procedures.
- Assists with management of medical service patient access including consultation to specialty services and productivity metrics.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date Monday, June 12, 2017 of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
- Administrative management
- Personnel administration
- Budgeting and financial management
- Understanding of medical records compliance and risk management systems.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
