Administration Team Leader Mental Health

About This Role

This permanent, full-time position combines day-to-day leadership of the administration service with high-quality medical secretarial support for Consultant Psychiatrists and adult psychiatry services within the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). The role ensures the smooth and effective delivery of administrative and secretarial functions that support safe, responsive, and person-centred mental health care in the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership of the administration service
• Provide high-quality medical secretarial support to Consultant Psychiatrists and adult psychiatry services
• Ensure the smooth and effective delivery of administrative and secretarial functions
• Provide operational oversight of the administration team
• Ensure effective systems and processes are in place to support clinicians, service users, and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to administrative staff
• Coordinate workloads and oversee priorities
• Ensure the delivery of an efficient and responsive administration service
• Support staff induction, training, and supervision
• Work closely with operational managers and clinical leads to support service performance and improvement
• Prepare clinical correspondence
• Manage diaries and appointments
• Coordinate clinics
• Process referrals
• Liaise with service users, carers, GP practices, and partner agencies
• Manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
• Prioritise competing demands effectively
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals to support the delivery of high-quality community mental health services

Requirements

• Experienced administrator
• HNC in Administration or a similar qualification
• Well organised
• Good planning and communication skills
• Experience of managing or supervising people
• Must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post
