Adjunct Instructor, Environmental Science

About This Role

This adjunct instructor position in Environmental Science involves teaching online courses such as Introduction to Environmental Science and Conservation of Natural Resources. The role focuses on ensuring graduate students meet learning objectives and successfully complete their courses as outlined in the catalog. All adjunct positions are per-session appointments.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate students in assigned course(s)
• Abide by and uphold the University’s mission, policies, and core values
• Develop and/or implement the class syllabus once it meets School standards
• Plan and create course materials such as lectures, discussions, and assignments
• Assign grades for students based on criteria such as participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations
• Collaborate with colleagues on course design, content, and curriculum
• Be available to students for individual consultation
• Assist students on how to be successful in class
• Stay current within field of study
• Communicate to students, faculty, and staff using their Upper Iowa University email
• Submit final grades by the specified due date

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field is required
• Strong commitment to the mission, vision and strategic goals of Upper Iowa University
• Committed to excellence in teaching
