Adjunct Assistant Professor, Statistics

About This Role

This position involves developing, preparing, and teaching various coursework in statistics. The Adjunct Assistant Professor will deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory, and/or classroom settings, promoting student success within a community college environment. The role requires flexibility to teach courses during the day, evening, or online, as well as using other distance learning formats.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and deliver instruction to didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting
• Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service
• Collaborate with the Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content
• Demonstrate technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction
• Work collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team
• Assist with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures
• Participate in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed
• Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance
• Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes
• Develop methods that fairly and accurately assess students’ progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives
• Maintain appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment
• Keep a record of operating procedures and may share position specific knowledge, including use of collegewide ERP and related system processes, by providing guidance on standard operations and established departmental procedures as needed
• Provide service to the college through participation in events, committees, and other college activities
• Comply with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality
• Strictly honor the privacy, security, and confidentiality of records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures
• Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Master's degree or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics, statistics, or mathematical physics
