Job Description: An Accountant in paint manufacturing manages plant-level financial operations. Key duties include tracking raw material and production costs, inventory and batch control, accounts payable/receivable, and statutory compliance (GST, TDS). They drive profitability by analyzing cost variances and overseeing pricing margins. [1, 2, 3, 4] Key Responsibilities Cost & Manufacturing Accounting
- Cost Analysis: Track the costs of raw materials (pigments, resins, solvents), labor, and overhead to establish standard costs.
- Variance Reporting: Calculate actual vs. expected production costs to identify inefficiencies or material wastage.
- Batch Profitability: Assess profitability across different paint lines and product batches. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Inventory & Batch Control
- Stock Valuation: Participate in monthly stock takes and value raw materials, chemicals, packaging, and finished goods.
- Batch Tracking: Ensure accurate records of inventory batches and monitor raw material shelf-life and pilferage. [1, 2]
Statutory & Tax Compliance
- GST & Taxation: Calculate, file, and manage GST returns, TDS deductions, and other periodic tax liabilities.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain records that comply with corporate regulations and tax laws. [1, 2]
General Accounting & Reporting
- AP & AR: Process vendor payments for material suppliers and ensure timely collections from distributors and dealers.
- Reconciliation: Perform daily bank, vendor, and customer account reconciliations.
- MIS & Forecasting: Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and management reports to guide strategic decision-making. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (B.Com, BBA). Certifications such as CA, ICWA, or CPA are strong assets. [1, 2, 3]
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing accounting. Paint or chemical manufacturing experience is highly preferred. [1, 2, 3]
- Software Skills: High proficiency in MS Excel is mandatory. Hands-on experience with ERP systems (like SAP, Oracle, or Tally) is required. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with procurement and production teams. [1, 2]
