About the Role
A leading pharmaceutical organisation is seeking a Pharmaceutical Account Manager – Dermatology to support the commercialisation and growth of products within the Dermatology therapeutic area.
The role focuses on educating healthcare professionals, developing relationships with dermatology practices and healthcare organisations, supporting clinical and patient access education, and identifying opportunities to improve product adoption and business performance.
This is a field-based commercial role suited to an experienced pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device or healthcare sales professional with strong clinical selling, account management and strategic business-planning capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support account onboarding through product and clinical education.
- Engage healthcare professionals through clinical selling activities and communicate the clinical value proposition of assigned products.
- Support initial clinical and patient-access education for medical staff.
- Develop and coordinate clinical education opportunities and peer-to-peer programmes for healthcare professionals.
- Manage accounts across Dermatology practices, clinics, hospitals and independent physician offices.
- Achieve territory sales objectives and other key performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with physicians, healthcare decision-makers, support staff, pharmacists and other relevant stakeholders.
- Deliver targeted sales presentations using approved clinical and marketing materials and medical literature.
- Educate healthcare professionals on disease states, treatment approaches and the safe and effective use of assigned products.
- Present complex clinical, product and business information to Dermatologists, healthcare professionals, professional groups, patient groups and other decision-makers.
- Execute local marketing strategies and adapt commercial tactics to the needs of the assigned customer segment.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers within healthcare systems and specialty practices.
- Develop and implement medical education opportunities designed to expand healthcare professional knowledge.
- Stay current with developments in disease states, treatments, clinical information and the evolving healthcare business environment.
- Strategically manage allocated commercial resources, including budgets, managed markets, medical affairs and other internal resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to share market insights, identify opportunities and improve business performance.
- Maintain a strong focus on patient needs, customer satisfaction, compliance and ethical business practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years of successful sales experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device or a related healthcare/clinical environment; alternatively, 2+ years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience within the organisation.
- Experience calling on Dermatologists or working within Dermatology is highly preferred.
- Strong business planning and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to identify commercial opportunities and adapt effectively to changing market conditions.
- Understanding of the managed-care landscape and its impact on pharmaceutical business.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation and influencing skills.
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork capabilities.
- Strong account management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to communicate complex clinical and commercial information effectively.
- Ability to work independently while managing a defined geographic territory.
- Must reside within or close to the assigned territory.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of direct sales experience with healthcare professionals within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device or healthcare environments.
- Direct experience calling on Dermatologists.
- Experience managing and communicating complex reimbursement and market-access issues.
- Strong understanding of specialty pharmaceutical sales and healthcare provider decision-making.
Training Requirements
Continued employment is contingent upon successfully completing mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations.
Training includes live instruction, independent study, role-play and other product and sales training activities.
