Academic Advisor

About This Role

Advising students interested in the Trulaske College of Business is the core of this role, covering degree requirements, major selection, academic standing, and course registration. This position also involves assisting with program development for students and other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Advising.

Responsibilities

• Advise students with interest in the Trulaske College of Business regarding degree requirements, choosing a major, academic standing concerns, course registration, and other issues
• Track progress for applying to the upper level
• Check graduation requirements
• Counsel on career preparation
• Provide academic counseling
• Advise students regarding their schedule
• Advise students wanting to change major to business
• Work with academic standing
• Maintain communication with advisees
• Evaluate transcripts
• Provide referrals
• Offer transitional advising
• Assist with the college’s graduation
• Assist with the development of programming for Trulaske College of Business students

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired

Nice to have:

• Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired
• 1-2 years working in higher education serving as an advisor to students
• Knowledge of academic policies and student affairs

• Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday-Friday, occasional evenings and weekends
