Position: 7th English Language Arts Teacher
Reports To: Building Principal
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop strong reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills. A background or certification in a Foreign Language is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset in supporting cross-curricular and culturally responsive instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging ELA lessons aligned with state standards
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary projects
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with English (BA) or Language Arts (BX) endorsement, AP Certified preferred
- Foreign language certification or proficiency (e.g., Spanish, French) strongly preferred
- Additional endorsements preferred
- Must meet the “Highly-Qualified” status
- Develop and implement effective behavior management plans
- Demonstration of skills in relationship building with all stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Must demonstrate patience and compassion
- Demonstrate the ability to keep confidentiality in regards to the Family Privacy Act
