About This Role
This 3D Modeler role involves translating concepts and rough sketches into clear, realistic, and manufacturable 3D models using Blender. The models must be aesthetically pleasing and technically feasible for the company's machinery, including CNC, 3D printing, milling, and prototyping. The role requires collaboration with designers, engineers, project managers, and makers to ensure models align with the workshop's reality, bringing creations to life at festivals, museums, and in public spaces.
Responsibilities
- Interpret concepts from designers and project managers and translate them into well-thought-out 3D models
- Build clean, efficient, and production-ready polygon and mesh models
- Use nodes and smart workflows to create complex procedural models
- Create realistic surfaces that accurately represent form, light, and material through shading and materials
- Deliver convincing realistic renders for internal use and clients
- Ensure manufacturability by modeling with knowledge of production techniques like CNC, 3D printing, milling, and assembly
- Import, clean up, and integrate external 3D files
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and workshop teams
- Prepare machines for the CNC team to facilitate smooth production
Requirements
- Expert in Blender: polygon modeling, mesh modeling, sculpting, shading, nodes
- Ability to create realistic renders that convincingly show form, light, and material
- Experience with manufacturable models for CNC, 3D printing, milling, and prototyping
- Ability to work with third-party models and process them technically correctly
- Strong portfolio demonstrating both design sensibility and technical maturity
- At least 3 years of experience in 3D modeling
- Clear communication and effective collaboration in a self-managing team
- Passion for the creative sector
- Interest in learning how to prepare CNC files for production
