About This Role
Working as a 3D Modeler for game development involves creating high-quality 3D assets using Blender for game environments, props, and characters. The role requires an understanding of game-ready topology, texturing, and UV mapping, collaborating with developers to bring game elements to life.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D models of environments, props, characters, and other game assets from concept art, reference images, or design specifications
- Utilize Blender as your primary tool for modeling, sculpting, and retopology
- Ensure all models are created with efficient and clean game-ready topology, optimizing for performance without compromising visual fidelity
- Create high-quality textures (PBR workflows highly preferred) using appropriate software (e.g., Substance Painter, Photoshop, or similar) to bring models to life
- Develop clean and optimized UV maps for efficient texturing and light mapping
- Work closely and collaboratively with game designers, programmers, animators, and other artists to integrate assets seamlessly into the game engine and ensure they meet technical and artistic requirements
- Actively participate in art critiques, receive and implement feedback to iterate on designs and improve asset quality
- Optimize 3D assets for various platforms and performance requirements, balancing visual quality with game engine efficiency
- Follow established art pipelines, naming conventions, and best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to 3D models within the game engine
