ACTIVA, the innovation and entrepreneurship laboratory of the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), in partnership with the Development Banking System (SBD) and within the framework of the “EbA-LAC” project, launches the 2nd ADAPT-ACTIVA call for proposals to provide financial resources and training to the best entrepreneurial proposals in the rural sector of the country, with the possibility of receiving non-refundable seed capital of 4,000,000 to 7,000,000 colones, in addition to specialized mentoring in business development.
According to this form, undertaking is considered to be all the efforts made by an individual or a group of people to generate products and services that are valued in the market and generate economic, social and environmental benefits.
Categories
- Inclusion: Entrepreneurial individuals or companies in the rural sector that have a business idea or are starting operations.
- Transformative-Rural: Rural companies formed as a legal entity duly registered as MIPyMES before the MEIC or as PYMPA before the MAG with less than 96 months of operation.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Be a Costa Rican citizen or resident, of legal age.
- The location of the business and the residence of the entrepreneur must be in one of the following districts :
- Alajuela Canton. Districts: Carrizal, Garita, Sabanilla, San Isidro, Sarapiquí and Tambor.
- Alfaro Ruiz Canton. Districts: Brisas, Guadalupe, Laguna, Palmira, Tapesco, Zapote and Zarcero.
- Atenas Canton. Districts: Atenas, San José and Santa Eulalia.
- Grecia Canton. Districts: Bolivar, Grecia, Puente de Piedra, San Isidro, San José, San Roque and Tacares.
- Guácimo Canton. District: Duacarí, Guácimo and Río Jiménez.
- Heredia Canton. District: Vara Blanca.
- Naranjo Canton. Districts: Cirri Sur, Naranjo, Palmitos, San Jerónimo, San José, San Juan, San Miguel and Rosario.
- Palmares Canton. Districts: Buenos Aires, Candelaria and Esquipulas.
- Poás Canton. Districts: Carillos, Sabana Redonda, San Juan, San Pedro and San Rafael.
- Pococí Canton. Districts: Cariari, Colorado, Guápiles, La Colonia, Jiménez, Rita and Roxana.
- Rio Cuarto Canton. Districts: Rio Cuarto, Santa Isabel and Santa Rita.
- San Carlos Canton: Districts: Aguas Zarcas, Buena Vista, Cutris, Florencia, La Palmera, Monterrey, Pital, Pocosol, Quesada and Venecia.
- San Ramón Canton: Ángeles, Concepción, Piedades Norte, San Isidro and Volio.
- Santa Barbara Canton. District: Santo Domingo.
- Sarapiquí Canton. Districts: Cureña, Horquetas, La Virgen, Llanuras del Gaspar and Puerto Viejo.
- Siquirres Canton. Districts: Cairo and Siquirres.
- Valverde Vega Canton. Districts: Rodríguez, San Pedro, Sarchí Norte, Sarchí Sur and Toro Amarillo.
- The business idea must be part of the following sectors: tourism, livestock (milk, meat, dual purpose), agriculture (coffee, musaceae – banana, abaca –, vegetable production and pepper), forestry production, beekeeping and agriculture in general.
- Mandatory attendance at training workshops. Applicants who meet the initial requirements and are approved by the operating agency will receive an invitation after August 18 to attend mandatory virtual training workshops on sustainable business models and details of the competition.
Furthermore, in order to be part of the pre-incubation process, in addition to meeting the mandatory requirements, the applicant person or company must not have had any past conflicts with ACTIVA-CATIE or any other seed capital operating agency.
