The construction intern inspects routine construction items for conformance to plans, specifications, special provisions, and terms of the contract. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Assist with coordinating and performing construction inspections verifying that contractors' activities are in compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
- Assist construction inspectors with routine inspection items, such as asphaltic or portland cement concrete plants, asphaltic or concrete paving, including grading and base, small bridges, concrete box and pipe culverts; general or specific items, such as utility adjustments, signing, traffic signals and lighting.
- Assist with performing measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, contractor payment estimates, and engineering costs.
- Provide field checks for contractor surveying operations; assist party chief on routine layout and staking.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Working Conditions:
Some night work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in a relevant ABET-accredited bachelor's or post-bachelor's degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
- 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
- Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
