About the Role
We are looking for a sharp, autonomous Backend Developer to join a high-energy team building robust features and scalable tools. You will own the full product lifecycle—from ideation and architecture to third-party integrations, auth pipelines, and production support—while helping modernize legacy systems along the way.
What You’ll Do
- Build & Scale: Rapidly build, iterate, test, and deploy new products and features while maintaining a robust, high-quality codebase.
- Integrate & Connect: Design third-party integrations and handle complex auth processes, connecting systems via healthcare data, health companies, and EMRs.
- Collaborate: Work closely with engineering, product management, QA, and operations in an Agile environment to drive data-driven decisions.
- Maintain & Modernize: Troubleshoot complex bugs, resolve production issues, and support the mid-term migration of legacy apps to newer tech stacks.
🔒 Mandatory Skills & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- CS Fundamentals: Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Python Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Python 3.12+ (software or data engineering).
- APIs & Frameworks: Mastery of FastAPI (async) and REST API design.
- Database & ORM: MongoDB , ideally with Beanie ODM (async) for the persistence layer, plus a comprehensive grasp of general SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Auth & Security: OAuth/OIDC + JWT via Keycloak and Descope (provider-agnostic backend working off JWT claims).
- Containerization: Docker / docker-compose (everything runs in containers).
- Cloud & Architecture: Expertise in cloud services, Event-Driven Microservices , and identity management/OAuth.
- Observability: Experience with tracing, observability, and other cloud-native patterns.
✨ Nice-to-Have Skills
- Healthcare interoperability resources: FHIR R4 , SMART Health Links/Cards (SHL/SHC).
- JWE decryption and QR/image decoding (pyzbar/zbar).
- Storage connector integration (Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, SMTP, FHIR servers).
- Testing discipline: pytest + Cucumber/Playwright E2E.
- Observability & Infrastructure: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Apache Kafka , AWS Secrets Manager.
