The Xarxa de Santa Tecla is a group of non-profit healthcare and social foundations, in agreement with local administrations and the Generalitat of Catalonia. Since its origins – dating back to the 12th century with the old Hospital de la Seu de Tarragona (1171) – it has cared for the healthcare and social needs of the citizens of the Tarragona regions. Through more than forty healthcare and social centers and with a stable workforce of nearly 2,500 people, the institution provides coverage, both publicly and through mutuals, to the approximately 200,000 people residing in the northern Tarragonès and Baix Penedès regions, as well as to the transient population resulting from the area's tourist and business activity. Over the past few years, the organization has experienced significant growth to adapt its services to the needs of a rapidly growing territory. This altruistic spirit of care and assistance to society has driven the Xarxa de Santa Tecla to universalize citizen access to efficient and quality social and healthcare services, primarily through the formula of service and facility agreements with public administrations in the area. As a result of this collaboration, each year about 2 million Tarragona residents receive healthcare and social attention in the centers managed by the Xarxa Sanitaria i Social de Santa Tecla in the two northern regions of Tarragona province. Given its size, the Xarxa de Santa Tecla constantly requires healthcare, social, and support staff (administration, logistics, hospitality, cleaning, etc.) to meet the needs of the following centers: 2 Hospitals: Hospital de Santa Tecla de Tarragona and Hospital del Vendrell, 6 Primary Care Basic Health Areas (ABS) (Arboç, Vendrell, Calafell, Torredembarra, Tarragona, and Vila-seca), Two residences for the elderly in Tarragona city, A Day Center for the elderly in Constantí, Two socio-healthcare centers in Tarragona city, An occupational workshop for people with intellectual disabilities in Tarragona, A Special Education School in Tarragona, A Residential Home for people with intellectual disabilities in Tarragona, A center for people with cerebral palsy in Tarragona, A Special Employment Center, A Residential Center for Educational Action (CRAE), A Logistics Warehouse in Tarragona. The Xarxa de Santa Tecla is currently the largest healthcare and social organization in Catalonia.
