About Waltham Forest Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets

Waltham Forest Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets is a volunteer-led uniformed youth organisation helping young people aged 10–18 build confidence, resilience and leadership through adventure, teamwork and personal development. Based in North-East London, our unit provides a safe, structured and supportive environment where young people from all backgrounds can learn new skills, challenge themselves and build lasting friendships. Our programme is built on the traditions of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, while focusing on developing the practical life skills young people need for the future. Cadets take part in a wide range of activities including sailing, rowing, kayaking, powerboating, navigation, radio communications and seamanship. Alongside this, they develop leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills through first aid training, drill, community engagement and personal development courses. Our Royal Marines Cadets programme offers additional opportunities for challenge, including fieldcraft, map reading, expedition training and physical development. These experiences help cadets build determination, discipline and confidence while working as part of a team. Beyond weekly training nights, cadets can take part in camps, courses, competitions and national events across the UK. Many also work towards recognised qualifications that support their education and future careers. The unit is powered by dedicated volunteers who give their time to mentor, support and inspire young people. Together we create opportunities for cadets to discover their strengths, develop leadership skills and experience activities they may not otherwise have access to. At Waltham Forest Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to grow, challenge themselves and achieve their potential. Through adventure, teamwork and community, we help shape confident young people ready to take on the future.
