It is our task to assess Denmark's approximately 2.3 million properties. We ensure accurate, uniform, and transparent property valuations and calculate property tax. We work to create trust in the valuation and security regarding property taxation. The Danish Tax Agency must ensure accurate, uniform, and transparent property valuations that form the basis for ongoing property taxation in Denmark, as well as the repayment of tax paid due to an overvaluation. The Danish Tax Agency must, with new rules, methods, and data, ensure that citizens and businesses receive the first new valuations since 2011, offers of repayment of taxes for the period, and that taxes are collected based on both old and new property tax rules, which ensure security for the individual. This should happen so that citizens and businesses experience a cohesive citizen journey with a focus on open, transparent, and customer-oriented communication. The valuation of properties and land will always be associated with a natural uncertainty and will to some extent be based on an estimate. At the same time, the number of properties and their diversity, as well as the large amount of data collected from owners, municipalities, and various registers, contribute to making the valuation and taxation of properties a complex and extensive task. Highly specialized employees with strong professional expertise and the ability to collaborate across disciplines must ensure that citizens and businesses experience accountability and thoroughness in each case, so that the taxation basis appears reasonable. The Building and Housing Register (BBR) will be integrated into the Danish Tax Agency from April 1, 2022, and thus another important professional area will be included in the work with the new valuation system. At the Danish Tax Agency, we are approximately 890 colleagues, housed in Haderslev, Herning, Lyngby, Maribo, Roskilde, Svendborg, and Aalborg.
