Ville de Houilles

About Ville de Houilles

Located in the Seine valley, Houilles, a tree-lined and flowery town, aims to be a friendly place. It combines the advantage of being 12 kilometers northwest of Paris and a few kilometers from the Saint-Germain-en-Laye forest. Situated between La Défense, Cergy, and Poissy, Houilles also benefits from the RER A which transports residents to the Charles-de-Gaulle-Étoile station in 15 minutes. The SNCF train connects the Houilles-Carrières-sur-Seine station to Paris-Saint-Lazare in just 10 minutes. The Houilles-Carrières-sur-Seine station is modern and accessible to people with reduced mobility. All major urban development projects undertaken in Houilles integrate a commitment to landscape architecture considered essential for the quality of life of the 32,840 residents (2017 census). Among the latest achievements are: the cultural center La Graineterie (2009), the music and dance conservatory (2013), the inter-municipal swimming pool (2014), and the creation of new housing in the town center (ZAC église) in 2015. Houilles is now the tenth largest town in the Yvelines. It offers a pleasant living environment on a human scale, combining gardens, parks, squares, tree-lined streets and avenues, where houses, beautiful residences, and apartment buildings coexist across 441 hectares. Seven neighborhoods surround a town center where old farm buildings, converted into professional or residential spaces, still remain. Multiple shops, a traditional market, numerous school and sports facilities, as well as the involvement of associations in town life are assets that make Houilles a good place to live. It also benefits from the "solidarity town" label for its commitment and that of the organizers in the "Fête des voisins" (Neighbor's Day) which brought together several thousand residents in 130 celebration locations in 2017.
