In 1927, two brothers (Rizental Family) began the first actions for public transportation in Ponta Grossa. The following year, the route connecting the city center to the Uvaranas neighborhood began operation. At the time, the company was called Auto Viação Pontagrossense and kept this name until 1964, when it was acquired by the Mezzomo family, changing its corporate name and becoming known as Viação Campos Gerais. In 1984, VCG was acquired by the Gulin family, who already had expertise in the area. That year, there were 40 routes and 60 vehicles. Today, after a national bidding process (2003), the concessionaire operates with a fleet of 217 buses, distributed across 101 routes. On average, 85,000 people are transported daily, including paying passengers, students, and those with exemptions.
