Who are we? The Veiligheidsregio Kennemerland (VRK) consists of the GGD (including Ambulance Care), the fire department, Crisis Management Kennemerland, National Control Room Cooperation North Holland, Care and Safety House, Veilig Thuis and supporting departments. We work for nine municipalities (over 500,000 inhabitants): Beverwijk, Bloemendaal, Haarlem, Haarlemmermeer, Heemskerk, Heemstede, Uitgeest, Velsen and Zandvoort. With Tata Steel, the North Sea Canal and Schiphol, the Veiligheidsregio Kennemerland is one of the most high-risk security regions in the Netherlands. Approximately 1400 employees (including volunteers) work at the VRK. What do we do? To increase safety in our region and be well-prepared for disasters and crises, we work closely with the municipalities. We do this in the areas of crisis management, disaster response, fire services, medical assistance during disasters, and maintaining public order and safety. Working in a network organization like the VRK keeps our work varied and challenging. An exciting crisis function Looking for even more excitement? You can take on a secondary function with us alongside your work in the regional crisis organization. Many colleagues have a crisis function in addition to their 'regular job'. They take action when their pager goes off during their on-call duty. This could be for a large fire, but also for an airplane accident, tunnel incident, or an outbreak of infectious diseases. If you take on a crisis function with us, you will naturally be trained and educated. Increasingly sustainable As an organization, we are aware of our living environment and therefore consider sustainability an important theme. We are addressing our energy consumption with, among other things, LED lighting and turning down the heating by one degree. We also have a Sustainability project group. It consists of passionate employees who make practical sustainability actions possible. As a result, colleagues make more conscious choices, for example, regarding transportation or purchasing healthier food.
