The urban kita gGmbH, founded in 1991, is a recognized independent provider of youth welfare services and a member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Landesverband Berlin e. V.. We operate 8 daycare centers in Berlin Lichtenberg and Marzahn-Hellersdorf with 1,285 daycare places and 240 employees. Our daycare centers are institutions with various conceptual orientations. These range from pedagogical concepts according to Maria Montessori and Friedrich Fröbel, to a creative-pedagogical concept, to a focus on integrated language support, health and exercise, natural sciences, and media education. In our daycare centers, we offer children in toddler and preschool age a place to learn and live, where they are sensitively and individually supported and encouraged in their development. We are open to all children – regardless of their cultural background, nationality, or social situation, with or without disabilities. Close cooperation with families is important to us. Therefore, in cooperation with the non-profit provider urban FAB, we offer families and single parents an outreach consulting and support service with our project "Zukunft" in Marzahn-Hellersdorf. We stand for tolerant interaction, both internally and externally, for environmentally conscious action and for a prejudice-free approach to diversity and difference. In December 2010, the company concluded a company collective agreement with the Education and Science Union (GEW). This was strongly oriented towards the collective agreement for public sector employees of the states (TV-L) and regulated working conditions at urban kita gGmbH since 01.01.2011. Since 01.01.2021, wage-setting principles have been regulated by a modern works agreement tailored to a private daycare provider. An orientation towards the TV-L has been maintained. We are part of a provider network consisting of urban FAB gGmbH and Familienarbeit und Beratung e. V. as well as a member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Landesverband Berlin e. V..
