About Universität Kassel

The University of Kassel is the northernmost university in Hesse. It was founded in 1971 as the Gesamthochschule Kassel (GhK). The university has been called the University of Kassel since 2003. The research at the university is traditionally diverse and interdisciplinary, e.g., since 1978 through the Scientific Centers organized independently of the faculties. The research profile includes focus areas in environmental, climate, and energy research, information technology design, nanostructure science, and educational research, among others. In addition to the central Holländischer Platz campus, the University of Kassel has further locations on Heinrich-Plett-Straße, Menzelstraße, Wilhelmshöher Allee, and Damaschkestraße in Kassel, as well as two locations in the town of Witzenhausen.
