The University Centre for Aging Medicine FELIX PLATTER is one of Switzerland's leading institutions for health in old age. Under the roof of a state-of-the-art new building, we combine specialized services in the areas of acute geriatric medicine, geriatric psychiatry, and rehabilitation. Thanks to our university affiliation, the latest findings from teaching and research directly benefit patients: in prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, therapy, and aftercare. We are considered a key driver nationally and internationally, particularly in the areas of cognition, mobility, and nutrition. For example, the Memory Clinic FELIX PLATTER is pioneering in the early diagnosis of cognitive impairments. The Basel Mobility Center FELIX PLATTER can detect gait patterns that indicate a risk of falling as well as cognitive disorders before effective clinical symptoms appear. The University Centre for Aging Medicine FELIX PLATTER treats over 8000 patients annually, including around 5000 inpatients (310 beds). Over 800 employees work in medical, nursing, therapeutic, commercial, social, and technical fields; around 70 of them are in vocational training. Our employees can take advantage of diverse further education and training opportunities, which are also open to external individuals depending on the specialization.
