About Unimed Ponta Grossa

Based on the same philosophy of union, equality, democracy, and cooperativism, already preached in ancient societies, an entity emerged on June 7, 1978, which, in addition to offering greater access to health, would stand out as a company that fulfills numerous social roles in the region where it operates. Twenty-eight doctors structured the third Unimed of Paraná, which gradually gained space and consolidated itself as the largest health operator not only in Ponta Grossa but in the entire region. The inauguration of the Unimed General Hospital in 2007 was one of Unimed Ponta Grossa's greatest achievements and the first step in the verticalization of its own resources. This was followed by the CDU diagnostic imaging center (Unimed Diagnostic Center) and the UCA intensive care unit (Unimed Advanced Care). In 2016, the implementation of the Hemodynamics unit enabled HGU to become a high-complexity surgical hospital. Investments in its own services continued to advance, and in 2017, the Ponta Grossa cooperative inaugurated its first own clinical analysis laboratory. Thus, the institution created to enable the economic activity of its members consolidated a prominent position as a health plan operator, fulfilling the roles of employer, service provider, and social agent in the community. With its eyes set on the future of medicine and health, Unimed Ponta Grossa continues its mission with the certainty that it will continue to provide relevant economic and social services to the region.
