The history of UNICEUMA began on March 2, 1990, when President José Sarney signed the decree authorizing the courses of Administration, Accounting Sciences, Economics, Letters, and Pedagogy. Initially, the CEUMA Integrated Faculties operated at Colégio Meng, where the first entrance exam took place, with 3,424 candidates competing for 400 vacancies. In 1992, CEUMA was permanently established in its own headquarters. In January 1993, the Law Course was authorized and on December 17 of the same year, CEUMA graduated its first classes. Today, UNICEUMA is a solid institution, which has already graduated over 8,000 professionals, thus contributing to the development of the State, through the placement of competent and ethical professionals in the job market. Its staff currently has over 1,000 professionals. They are masters and specialists, consultants, professors, technicians, and administrative assistants, all dedicating the excellence of their talent, competence, and performance to the ideal of awakening in each student a commitment to full, intelligent, and creative citizenship.
