About UNICEF Portugal

UNICEF is the leading organization for the defense and promotion of children's rights, present in over 190 countries. The Portuguese Committee for UNICEF was created in 1979, being a non-governmental organization with the status of Public Utility Association. It is part of the network of 34 National Committees for UNICEF established in developed countries that make up UNICEF's global organization. Our mission is to promote and defend children's rights, raising awareness among the public and policymakers about Children's Rights and especially so that the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children who continue to live in poverty, in conflict or disaster situations, suffering abuse or exploitation, are not forgotten. As the representative and voice of UNICEF in Portugal, the Portuguese Committee for UNICEF works to raise funds for the agency's work to finance programs for development and action in emergency situations globally and all its activities in Portugal.
