About UBEC - União Brasiliense de Educação e Cultura

Founded in 1972, União Brasiliense de Educação e Cultura – UBEC emerged with the objective of maintaining Catholic educational institutions, providing a solid and quality education network. The group's first maintained institution appeared in 1974, when Catholic congregations, with extensive international experience in education, created the Faculdade Católica de Ciências Humanas. Established as a Civil Association, a private law religious entity of an assistance, educational, and philanthropic nature, UBEC is formed by the union of five Religious Provinces and one Diocese: The Lassalian Province of Porto Alegre – Lassalian Brothers; the Saint Joseph Province of the Congregation of the Stigmata of Our Lord Jesus Christ – Stigmatine Fathers and Brothers; the Marist Province of Central-North Brazil – Marist Brothers; the Saint John Bosco Inspectorate – Salesians of Don Bosco; the Mother Mazzarello Inspectorate – Salesian Sisters, and the Diocese of Itabira/Coronel Fabriciano. In 1980, UBEC brought together the various Catholic faculties existing in the Federal District and established FICB – Faculdades Integradas Católica de Brasília, and in 1994, the Ministry of Education accredited the Universidade Católica de Brasília – UCB, making it reach the dimension of a Catholic University in the Federal District. Currently, in addition to UCB, UBEC maintains the Centro Educacional Católica de Brasília (CECB), Centro Educacional Católica do Leste de Minas Gerais (CECMG), Centro de Formação da Agricultura Familiar – Pe. Leandro Caliman (UBEC-CENTAF), Centro Universitário do Leste de Minas Gerais (UNILESTE), Colégio Padre de Man (CPM), and Faculdade Católica do Tocantins (FACTO).
