About Thrive Alabama

When the AIDS Action Coalition was formed 30 years ago, we would assist with food, rent, errands, utility bills, and too often, helping the infected die with dignity. Thanks to a life insurance policy left by Joe Davis in 1992, we opened a clinic that has grown into an organization that provides medical care and outreach services to nearly 5,000 people in North Alabama. Today, our patients living with HIV can access mental health, case management, housing, nutrition counseling, translation, transportation services, and more. With the improved health of our HIV population and our expanded services for substance abuse and sexually transmitted infection treatment, we felt the need to change our name to Thrive Alabama in 2015. In 2017, we began the process to become a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike. With this new designation we will provide medical, dental, vision, and mental healthcare for greater Huntsville. Our patients will range from pediatric to geriatric, and we will offer services for insured and uninsured people. In addition to the Huntsville location, we operate clinics in Florence and Albertville, allowing us to serve a 12 county area in North Alabama.
