The Federation of Thai Industries – FTI was established on November 13, 1967, initially as the Association of Thai Industries – ATI. The ATI played a significant role and achieved recognition from various government and private sector agencies, serving as the representative of the private industrial sector in the Joint Public-Private Consultative Committee for Economic Problem Solving (JPC), chaired by the Prime Minister. Consequently, on December 28, 1987, the government enacted the Industry Act B.E. 2530, published in the Royal Gazette, elevating the Association of Thai Industries to the "Federation of Thai Industries" under the supervision of the Minister of Industry.
