The passion for reading and for books has formed our foundation since 1919. The first Thalia bookstore was founded in Hamburg at that time. Today, the medium-sized and independent family business, headquartered in Hagen, is the market leader in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We offer a stage for diverse content and stories in every form – in the bookstore as well as on our online channels. This allows our customers to shop at any time across all channels. Around 500 bookstores form the Thalia network in the German-speaking countries. And with our online shop and our own app, we are also strongly represented digitally. Around 6,500 employees at our administrative sites and in the local bookstores work with great dedication and passion to ensure that our customers can choose from a unique selection, receive expert advice, and enjoy their shopping experience.
