Tangará S/A is one of the main players in the national food market. Considered a major supplier of raw materials for the food industry in general, it holds the leadership in the dairy sector. It was elected for two consecutive years as the best dairy company in Brazil, according to the Exame Maiores e Melhores Yearbook 2010 and 2009. In March of this year, the group announced an investment of R$ 55 million in the acquisition of a dairy plant in Estrela, Rio Grande do Sul, Lativale. Tangará Foods is part of a mining business group that has been operating for over 40 years in the food, civil construction, agribusiness, and financial sectors. Headquartered in Vila Velha (ES), Tangará, founded in 1993, offers a wide range of products and services in the areas of ingredients, retail, wholesale/trading, and coffee. The group markets about 100 items, including dairy solutions, powdered milk, coffee, and ingredients for the food industry. The company closed 2010 with a net profit of R$ 143 million, 73.7% higher than in 2009. EBITDA rose 119% compared to the previous period, reaching R$ 188.6 million. Gross revenue increased by 49.3%, reaching R$ 1.1 billion.
