Sylmar Health and Rehabilitation Center is a specialized 208-bed facility located in Sylmar, California, focusing on the care of individuals with severe psychiatric disorders. Our residents, diagnosed according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), include those with conditions such as schizophrenia and affective disorders. We operate under Title 22 regulations and maintain a robust Special Treatment Program, providing a minimum of twenty-seven hours of weekly services. Our primary goal at Sylmar Health and Rehabilitation Center is to empower residents to achieve their highest level of functioning, aiming ultimately to transition them to a lower level of care. Our facility is organized into distinct units tailored to meet diverse resident needs within the framework of the Special Treatment Program. Station I comprises the Subacute and IMD units, while Station II houses the Augmented/Dual Diagnosis, IST (Incompetent to Stand Trial), and Special Needs units. Additionally, we offer 24 beds dedicated to competency training under the STP program. Key services include 24-hour crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, monthly evaluations by board-certified psychiatrists for medication management and symptom control, monthly assessments by board-certified internal medicine physicians, and psychological evaluations conducted by licensed psychologists. Residents also benefit from individual psychotherapy sessions with Doctorate or Masters level therapists to enhance their understanding of their illness and improve symptom management. Furthermore, we provide specialized Chemical Dependency treatment for residents coping with co-occurring substance abuse alongside their mental health challenges.
