About Sveriges Museer

Sveriges Museer was formed in 2004. We represent and advance the Swedish museum sector's common interests. With over 260 members, we represent a large part of Sweden's museums. Every year, the country's museums attract over 27 million visits, many more than go to the cinema. Museums are important for individuals and significant for society. Museums are located all over Sweden and are diverse, with unique collections. If you include very small museums, there are approximately 1,600. We see this diversity as a strength and an asset. We highlight the importance of the museum sector to create better conditions for our members throughout the country. We monitor policy, respond to consultations, and act as the unified voice of the museum sector. Sveriges Museer engages in issues that are important for the sector as a whole.
