About Stz'uminus First Nation

Stz’uminus First Nation, part of the Coast Salish people, has resided around the Salish Sea for thousands of years. Our traditional territory spans over 1,200 hectares on east Vancouver Island, bordering the Strait of Georgia and Ladysmith Harbour. With a community of 1,300 members, half residing on our reserves, we are committed to building a prosperous and healthy future for all generations. Guided by sacred teachings, Stz’uminus First Nation's mission is to support and inspire each other by fostering a community rooted in family, respect, courage, humility, integrity, and sacred knowledge. As the authorized government on our reserve, our vision is to lead by incorporating ancestral knowledge, empowering our people through inclusivity and integrity, building strong community relationships, and maintaining pride in our identity and endeavours.
