Stichting Humanitas Rotterdam, founded in 1959, has a long tradition of innovative initiatives in the field of care, housing, welfare, and social services. Humanitas has 35 locations, 3,500 employees, and nearly 2,000 volunteers. In recent decades, the foundation has attracted national and international attention for its care philosophy focused on human happiness. Humanitas adheres to four core values: autonomy in life, use it or lose it, a positive attitude (yes culture), and a large family (an extended family approach). These basic values, together with all involved stakeholders (managers, clients, employees, family, and volunteers), guide the organization. Humanitas emphasizes personal activities, enjoyable initiatives, and what is possible.
